R. D. Olson Construction Builds Popular Japanese Restaurant

The Woodlands, Texas – R.D. Olson Construction, an Irvine-based firm specializing in hotels, restaurants and retail outlets, has started construction of a Benihana in The Woodlands, a Houston suburb. It is located at 1720 Lake Woodlands Drive.

The new 8,000-square-foot Japanese-style restaurant includes a main dining room with Teppan exhibition cooking tables and a sushi bar and lounge. A decorative glass and brass entrance and black lit acrylic panel give a dramatic flare to the entry, while Japanese custom-designed wood detailing creates an exotic atmosphere throughout the dining room and sushi bar.

“We have constructed several Benihana restaurants this year and are pleased to be asked to build this one,” said Dennis Reyling, president, R.D. Olson Construction.

The Scott Partnership Architects, Inc. designed the new restaurant, which is owned by Benihana National Corporation.

R.D. Olson Construction was founded in 1979 by Robert Olson. The company has since built such well-known establishments as the Marriott Residence Inn, Irvine; Springhill Suites, Hawthorne; and Dave & Buster’s, Hawaii. Current projects include Morton’s Steakhouse, Santa Ana, Calif. and Honolulu, Hawaii; Homewood Suites and Hilton Garden Inn, a two-hotel resort in San Diego and renovation of the Monarch Beach Resort Clubhouse and Bay Club, Dana Point, Calif.
