IRVINE, Calif.--R. D. Olson Construction was awarded the contract to build The Irvine Company's newest retail outlet--Oak Creek Village Center. It will serve as the shopping hub for residents of the surrounding Oak Creek community.
The Irvine-based construction company, which specializes in building hotels, restaurants and retail outlets, will provide pre-construction and general contracting services for the 135,000 square-foot complex.
The single-story center, which will be located on the corner of Jeffrey and Alton in Irvine, Calif., will house a Gelson's market and up to 25 other tenants. Stone veneer, wood framing, masonry exterior walls and a large two- and one-half-story tower will give the center its Spanish-style flavor. In keeping with the early California theme, the center will be adorned by lush landscaping of pepper and oak trees, highlighted by a large fountain. The $11.5 million complex was designed by Altevers & Associates.
"This is the second major retail center The Irvine Company has asked us to build for them this year," said Dennis Reyling, president, R. D. Olson Construction. "We are honored by their confidence in our work."
R. D. Olson Construction will begin building Oak Creek Village Center on September 15. The expected completion date is August 30, 2000.
