HAWTHORNE, Calif. -- R. D. Olson Construction, an Irvine-based building firm specializing in hotels, retail outlets and business complexes, has completed the Marriott TownePlace Suites in Hawthorne. The hotel is located at 14400 Aviation Blvd., directly across from the Manhattan Beach city line.

R. D. Olson Construction provided pre-construction and construction management services for the four-story 144-unit extended stay hotel. Johnson Braund Design Group, based in Seattle, Wash., drafted the architectural design of the facility.

"We have built many projects for Marriott International and enjoy a great working relationship with the company," said Dennis Reyling, president, R. D. Olson Construction.

The 96,000-square-foot TownePlace Suites is characterized by its cozy atmosphere with all the comforts of home including a large workspace and fully equipped kitchens in every suite. The hotel also features an outdoor pool and exercise facility. Project costs for the hotel total $7.1 million.

Olson Construction was founded by Robert Olson in 1979 and has since built such well-known establishments as Northpark Plaza, Irvine; Southern Highlands, Las Vegas, Nev.; Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas, Newport Beach; and Oak Creek Village Center, Irvine.
