Laguna Woods, Calif. -- R.D. Olson Construction,
an Irvine-based company specializing in hotels, business centers and retail outlets, has completed
the $12.4 million Town Centre business complex in Laguna Woods.
Olson provided the general construction for the
122,750-square-foot project, which consists of two office and two retail buildings located at
24351 El Toro Rd. The construction company also prepared the three pad sites for the project,
which required extensive excavation and grading.
"This property proved to be quite challenging
because the hilly terrain required us to relocate the El Toro Water District’s main 10" and
16" water lines without interrupting services," said Dennis Reyling, president, R.D. Olson
Construction. "We relocated 120,000 cubic yards of dirt, put up large retaining walls, a partial
subterranean parking structure and provided major rework to the Home Depot Dr. and Town Center Dr. intersection."
The old world, Spanish-style development will be
home to a medical center, restaurant and hotel. It features grand lobbies, courtyards, balconies
and lush planters. Town Centre, Laguna Woods is owned by Polygon Development and was designed by Lee & Sakahara Architect AIA.
R.D. Olson Construction was
founded in 1979 by Robert Olson. The company has since built such well-known
establishments as the Northpark Plaza, Irvine; Oak Creek Village Center,
Irvine; and Morton’s of Chicago, Vancouver, British Columbia. R.D. Olson
Construction is the twelfth largest company of its kind in Orange County with
offices in Honolulu, Hawaii and Las Vegas, Nev. The company’s corporate headquarters
is in Irvine, Calif.
