Orange County Construction Company to Renovate Mountain Country Club

LAKE ARROWHEAD, Calif.—R.D. Olson Construction, an Irvine-based firm specializing in hotels, country clubs and retail centers, has been contracted to make major renovations to the Lake Arrowhead Country Club. The facility sits atop a pristine valley and is located at 250 Golf Course Rd.

Olson will provide pre construction and general contracting services for the renovation. The existing double A-frame shell, which was built in the 1960s, will remain intact, while the building’s core including the locker rooms, kitchen, and dining hall will be completely reconstructed. The addition of a pro shop and snack bar also are planned. The exterior, too, will undergo renovation with a new roof, paint and large glass windows that overlook the golf course. Remodeling costs will total $3 million.

"We will modernize the facility, yet retain its earthly flavor so it blends well with its mountainous environment,” said Dennis Reyling, president, R.D. Olson Construction. The Irvine-based firm of MDR Architects designed the 17,000-square-foot country club using oak wood, rock and warm-toned décor throughout.

Lake Arrowhead Country Club is the owner. Construction is scheduled to begin in September 2002 with a completion date set for May 2003.

R.D. Olson Construction was founded in 1979 by Robert Olson. The company has since built such well-known establishments as the Marriott Residence Inn, Irvine and Springhill Suites, Hawthorne. Current projects in California include Renaissance Esmeralda Resort, Indian Wells; Hilton Garden Inn, Calabasas; and Benihana in San Diego. Olson is also building a Benihana in Golden Valley, MN and The Woodlands, TX. R.D. Olson Construction is the twelfth largest company of its kind in Orange County with its corporate office in Irvine, Calif.
