R.D. Olson Construction is Awarded Contract to Build Vacation Ownership Villas at Marriott's Shadow Ridge Resort

  PALM DESERT, Calif. - R.D. Olson Construction has been awarded the contract build additional vacation ownership villas at Marriott's Shadow Ridge, a Marriott Vacation Club Resort, in Palm Desert.

The Irvine-based construction company, specialists in hotels, restaurants and retail complexes, is the general contractor for the $15.5 million project. The additional phases involve the construction of more than 100 golf course vacation villas to be added to the current 135 villas at 9001 Shadow Ridge Road.

The company broke ground this week for 90,000 square feet of buildings, which will contain 62 villas. The architect for the project is Houston/Tyner of Marina Del Ray. The wood frame and plaster buildings will contain two-bedroom, two-bath lock off villas with living and dining area, kitchen, master bedroom suite with whirlpool tub. Construction is scheduled for completion in May 2003. The following phase of construction will involve 41 villas in 60,000 square feet of space, and is set for completion in December 2003.

The villas will overlook Marriott's Faldo Championship golf course, designed by three-time Masters and British Open winner Nick Faldo. The 312-acre vacation ownership resort also offers a feature pool, fitness center, tennis courts and restaurant.

R. D. Olson Construction was founded in 1979 by Robert Olson. The company has since built such well-known establishments as the Marriott Residence Inn, Irvine; Springhill Suites by Marriott, Hawthorne; and Dave & Buster's, Hawaii. Current projects in California include Blue Sea Lodge, San Diego and Lake Arrowhead Country Club, Lake Arrowhead. R.D.
