R.D. Olson Construction Signs Contract to Build Hotel for Major Hospitality Chain

Anaheim, Calif. - R.D. Olson Construction, an Irvine-based firm, has been awarded a contract to build a Holiday Inn Anaheim, Calif. The hotel's construction falls under the umbrella of the Anaheim resort development because of its close proximity to Disneyland. The Holiday Inn will share a six-acre site with the Staybridge Suites, which also contracted R.D. Olson Construction to build, creating a hospitality center for tourists.

R.D. Olson Construction, specializing in building hotels and restaurants, will begin the $15 million project in May 2000. R.D. Olson Development is the developer of the project.

"We are pleased to be involved in Anaheim's new development," said Dennis Reyling, president, R.D. Olson Construction. "The Holiday Inn will be a welcomed addition to this tourist-driven area."

R.D. Olson Construction will provide the pre-construction, general contracting and design build services for the hotel located on South Manchester Ave. The nine-story structure will include 264 suites and offer exclusive amenities such as a large pool and spa, stamped concrete walkways and elegant water features surrounded by towering palm trees. In addition, the full-service lodging facility will house the Alamo Grill Restaurant.

Lee & Sakahara Architects designed the hotel for its owners Bass Hotels and Resorts of Britain. The project is expected to be completed by May 2001. Once open, it will serve as a shuttle depot for theme-park visitors.
