R. D. Olson Construction Replaces Planet Hollywood with Morton’s of Chicago

SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator costume and Johnny Depp’s Edward Scissorhands shears will be replaced with high-end millwork bordered with dim lights when R. D. Olson Construction replaces the demolished Planet Hollywood with Morton’s of Chicago.

The Irvine-based construction company is providing pre-construction and general contracting services for the 12,000-squre-foot steakhouse located at 1641 Sunflower in the South Coast Plaza Village. Olson began construction mid-May and has a scheduled completion date set for November 5, in time for the holidays.

"We have constructed several steakhouses for Morton’s Restaurant Group and are pleased to have been chosen to build the Santa Ana establishment," said Dennis Reyling, president, R. D. Olson Construction.

Shea Architects, a Minneapolis, Minn.-based firm, designed the restaurant, which is characterized by a mahogany interior, custom lighting and a richly-furnished decor.

R.D. Olson Construction is a national general contractor and construction management company. Founded in 1979 by Robert Olson, the company has since built such well-known establishments as Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas, Newport Beach; Oak Creek Village Center, Irvine; Morton’s of Chicago, Vancouver, BC Canada and Seattle; and Southern Highlands Golf Club, Las Vegas, Nev. Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., R.D. Olson Construction is the twelfth largest company of its kind in Orange County with offices in Honolulu, Hawaii and Las Vegas, Nev.
