Hawthorne, Calif.-R.D. Olson Construction has been awarded the contract to build Springhill Suites by Marriott in Hawthorne. This is the 30th project the Irvine-based construction company has been contracted to build for the large international hospitality chain, including the upscale resort, Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas.
R.D. Olson Construction, which specializes in hotels, restaurants and office complexes, will provide general construction services for the $8 million project located at 14520 Aviation Blvd. A division of Marriott International will provide the architectural design for the 92,500-square-foot extended-stay facility.

The six-story Springhill Suites by Marriott will feature 164 suites and meeting rooms, and a fitness area, buffet lounge and pool. The towering structure will be encircled by an inviting landscape of palm trees and exclusive pool area.
Construction of Springhill Suites by Marriott is expected to begin by June 12, 2000 with a completion date set for May 2001.
