IRVINE, CALIF.--R. D. Olson Construction, specialists in building hotels, restaurants
and office complexes, has completed the Marriott Residence Inn at 2855 Main St., Irvine.
Sitting upon 4.38 acres of prime Irvine property within the city's business district,
the hotel will cater to corporate visitors staying five days or more. The eight-story extended stay hotel houses 174 one and two
bedroom suites and includes meeting rooms, a fitness center and swimming
pool. Construction project costs totaled $14.5 million.
"The Marriott Residence Inn will provide lodging in an area where demand exceeds the
supply," said Dennis Reyling.
While Marriott International will manage the hotel, Robert Olson, owner of the company
that developed the land, will retain ownership under the Main Street Hotels name. It will open on July 23 and employ approximately 350
workers. As with other hotels within the Marriott International chain, the average occupancy rate is expected to reach 82 percent.
Cornoyer-Hedrick, Inc., a Phoenix-based architectural firm designed the structure to
complement the contemporary flavor of the area. The interior was designed by Steven Langford and Associates of Irvine.
R. D. Olson Construction was founded in 1979 by Robert Olson. The company has since built
such well-known establishments as the Marriott Townplace Suites, Hawthorne; Laguna Woods Town Center, Laguna Woods; and Northpark Plaza
, Irvine. Current projects include Morton's Steakhouse, Santa Ana, Calif. and Honolulu, Hawaii; Homewood Suites and Hilton Garden Inn,
a two-hotel resort in San Diego and renovation of the Monarch Beach Resort Clubhouse and Bay Club, Dana Point, Calif. R.D. Olson
Construction is the twelfth largest company of its kind in Orange County with its corporate
office in Irvine, Calif.
