R.D. Olson Construction Starts Building High-End Senior Housing Complex

SOUTHGATE, Calif. – R.D. Olson Construction, an Irvine-based company specializing in hotels, restaurants and office complexes, has begun construction of the California Senior Plaza located at 8633 California Ave., Southgate. The complex is central to Southgate’s shopping district and near the city’s City Hall.

Olson will provide pre-construction and general contracting services for the senior housing complex at a project cost of 6.2 million. The project will entail 82,000 square feet of new construction designed to provide high-end housing for seniors. It is owned by California Senior Plaza, LLC.

“This complex is a welcomed addition to the community of Southgate,” said Dennis Reyling, president, R.D. Olson Construction.

Atelier V. Architects of Beverly Hills designed the four-story facility, which includes a community center, retail shops and three floors of suites totaling 69 units. Completion of the California Senior Plaza is scheduled for November 2003.

R.D. Olson Construction was founded in 1979 by Robert Olson. The company has since built such well-known establishments as the Renaissance Esmeralda, Indian Wells; Hilton Garden Inn, Calabasas; and Glen Ivy Day Spa, Brea—all in California. Current projects in California include Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort, Dana Point; Casa de Amma Assisted Living, San Juan Capistrano; and Marriott’s Shadow Ridge, Palm Desert.
