R.D. Olson Construction to Build Hotel in Shadow of Magic Mountain

SANTA CLARITA, Calif--R.D. Olson Construction, an Irvine-based company specializing in hotels, restaurants and office complexes, has been contracted to build a Holiday Inn Express across the street from Magic Mountain in Santa Clarita. The address is 27413 Championship Way.

Olson will provide pre-construction and general contracting services for the Holiday Inn Express at a project cost of $5.2 million. The new facility will replace an existing hotel, which will be demolished. The Holiday Inn Express will cater to tourists and business people visiting the nearby technology district. It will sit upon a 160,000-square-foot property owned by Ocean Park Hotels.

“We have an excellent reputation within the hospitality industry, which has resulted in an increase in the number of projects we have built this year that are outside of our Orange County home base,” said Dennis Reyling, president, R. D. Olson Construction.

PK Architects of Scottsdale, AZ. designed the two-story hotel using a California mission-style theme. The 60,000-square-foot facility includes 118 suites, each with a kitchenette, two meeting rooms, and a conference room, fitness center and pool.

Construction is due to begin December 3. The hotel will be completed in August 2002.

R.D. Olson Construction was founded in 1979 by Robert Olson. The company has since built such well-known establishments as the Marriott Residence Inn, Irvine; Springhill Suites, Hawthorne; and Dave & Buster’s, Hawaii. Current projects in California include Bluewater Grill, Redondo Beach; Renaissance Esmeralda Resort, Indian Wells; and Hilton Garden Inn, Calabasas. R. D. Olson Construction is the twelfth largest company of its kind in Orange County with its corporate office in Irvine, Calif.
