Dance Center |

ORANGE, Calif. - R.D.
Olson Construction has won the contract to create a dance center at
Chapman University, bringing a contemporary touch to the ivy-covered
building on the university's campus.
The Irvine-based construction company, a specialist in hotels,
restaurants and retail complexes, is gutting an existing warehouse and
undertaking major renovations to create the dance center. Inside, it
is constructing three dance activity rooms - including one that is
large enough to stage performances. Office space, restrooms and locker
rooms also are being built at the new 10,000 square foot dance center,
located at 190 N. Cypress in Orange, Calif.
The renovations to the warehouse space were designed by the
architectural firm Peterson Graeber Associates of San Juan Capistrano,
and include the addition of canopies and modem lighting fixtures to
the building, which is bedecked in ivy. Olson's work on the $800,000
project began in June and will be completed on Aug. 23. The university
will reopen for classes three days later
R. D. Olson Construction was founded in 1979 by Robert Olson. The
company has since built such well-known establishments as the Marriott
Residence Inn, Irvine; Benihana, Minneapolis and Dave & Buster's,
Hawaii. Current projects in California include Blue Sea Lodge, San
Diego and Lake Arrowhead Country Club, Lake Arrowhead. R. D. Olson
Construction is the twelfth- largest company of its kind in Orange
County with its corporate office in Irvine, Calif. |
