IRVINE, Calif.— R.D. Olson
Construction, builders of several Glen Ivy spas and the Ojai Valley
Inn & Spa Resort, has begun work on the Fairmont Newport Beach Hotel
Spa. The project follows R.D. Olson’s $22 million renovation of the
hotel’s lobby and main floor. The spa is housed within the upscale
hotel at 4500 MacArthur Blvd.
The Irvine-based
construction company will demolish 4,000-square-feet of the hotel’s
third floor to build seven treatment rooms, a men’s and women’s
locker room with adjoining lounges, two steam rooms and a main spa
lounge and lobby. A December completion date is set at for the $1.6
million project.
Lee & Sakahara of
Irvine provided the architectural design and Intra-Spec, Inc. of
Marina del Rey planned the interior elements. Pebbled stone and
glass with candle niches line the 60-foot corridor that leads to the
treatment rooms. Throughout, soft earth tones are plentiful, with
natural stone and bamboo imparting a soothing and inviting ambiance.
“The spa will reflect the style and sophistication familiar with the
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts brand,” said Robert Olson, CEO, R.D. Olson
Construction.
