CERRITOS, Calif. – R.D. Olson Construction brings its expertise in hotel
renovation to a $2 million overhaul of public spaces under way in
the 23-year-old Sheraton Cerritos Hotel.
The project, located
in the city’s lushly landscaped Towne Center, includes compete
renovation of the ballroom, meeting rooms, business center, board
room, gift shop and lobby bar, as well as expansion and upgrading of
the laundry room. Work is scheduled in two phases and set to be
complete by the end of August.
Architectural design
was provided by Lee & Sakahara of Irvine, with interiors by Design
Force Corp. of Denver. The new interior design will update a 1980s
style and color scheme to a modern classic California look,
artistically blending wood, carpet, granite and other stones. A
featured new outdoor dining area is shielded by glass etched in
musical notes and symbols, reflecting the hotel’s relationship to
the adjacent performing arts center.
“R.D. Olson was
selected because of our extensive experience in hotel construction
and renovation, and our deep commitment to providing the highest
quality workmanship for the hospitality industry,” said R.D. Olson
President Joe Kilar.
Kilar recently
assumed the title of president, succeeding Robert Olson who founded
R.D. Olson Construction in 1979. The company has grown into one of
the largest general contracting companies in California, building
such establishments as Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Resort, Ojai; Marriott
Newport Coast Villas, Newport Beach; Glen Ivy Hot Springs & Spa,
Corona; Brentwood County Club, Los Angeles; and more than 300
restaurants nationwide. Current projects under construction include
Renaissance ClubSport, Aliso Viejo; Burbank Residence Inn, Burbank;
La Costa Glen Carlsbad, Carlsbad; and Marriott’s Shadow Ridge, Palm
Desert. |
