IRVINE, Calif.—R.D. Olson
Construction, a leading hotel builder, has begun work on the $30
million Marriott Residence Inn Burbank at 321 South First St. The
hotel is part of Burbank’s long-range plans to maintain the city’s
presence as a vital hub for businesses and tourists, while
maintaining a cohesive viable community.
The five-story, 166-room extended-stay hotel will call for 165,000
square feet of new construction. The U-shaped hotel will house 166
rooms, including four executive, 20 one-bedroom, 16 two-bedroom and
126 studio suites. Additionally, 1,300 square feet will be dedicated
to meeting and boardroom space. And, as an added convenience, a
fitness center and laundry facilities are in the plans.
“The hotel will be a welcomed addition to the city’s downtown area,
catering to visitors of neighboring Walt Disney Company, Warner
Bros, NBC, DreamWorks SKG and Nickelodeon studios,” said Robert
Olson, CEO/president, R.D. Olson Construction. “It also is a short
distance from Burbank City Hall, theaters, restaurants and boutique
shops.”
Robert Olson founded R.D. Olson Construction in 1979. It has since
grown into one of the largest general contracting companies in
California. The company has built establishments for such clients as
Marriott, Hilton and Benihana to name a few. Current projects under
construction in California include Union Station Village at Los
Angeles Union Station; Ocean Ranch shopping center, Laguna Niguel;
and Marriott’s Shadow Ridge, Palm Desert. Out of state Olson is
working on completing the Benihana, Coral Gables, FL.
