Holiday Inn Select & Conference Center - La Mirada, CA Client: Sunstone Hotel Investors, Inc. Architect: Holiday Inn Select: the Vincent Company Designer: Holiday Inn Select: Intro-Spec Design Architect: Restaurant: Steven Langford Architecture R.D. Olson Construction was chosen to take a lead role in redesigning and constructing this hotel as part of the national campaign for introducing the Holiday Inn "Select" brand. The challenge was to develop an atmosphere that was attractive to the upscale business community while maintaining a rich, warm and friendly environment. The project's exterior included reconfiguration and complete refurbishment of the 112,000 square foot hotel including the 292 room, eight-story tower. With the introduction of the "Select" brand, many new amenities were added to the interior décor. Two floors were exclusively designed for luxury suites, a presidential suite and business lounge. The lobby, meeting rooms, banquet facilities and public spaces were upgraded with recessed lighting, coffered ceilings, imported granite flooring and rich cherry millwork to create an elegant and professional ambiance. To complete the new look, a themed full-service restaurant was built within the hotel to provide guests with maximum comfort and convenience. To meet the client's "Turn Key" requirement, R.D. Olson provided a complete range of services including coordination with city agencies, procurement of architectural and engineering consultants and project management right down to the final detail of the grand opening.
