Employment at R.D. Olson Construction requires knowledge and expertise in the unique development and construction requirements that our core
competencies-new hotel construction, hotel renovation, restaurant construction, retail, office and country club house construction-demand.
From time to time we have openings in
these positions:
Project Manager: Estimates and bids new projects including soliciting bids, preparing preliminary budgets, identifying both cost savings and problems, providing value engineering, writing the proposal, and following up on the bid. R.D. Olson Construction project managers also handle the day to day management responsibilities of one or more projects, including:
- Provide overall project direction working with the project superintendent, subcontractors, architects, designers, consultants and owners;
- Negotiate contracts and change orders;
- Maintain the company's relationship with the project architect and other consultants while encouraging other team members to develop and maintain these relationships; and
- Accountable for profitability, schedule compliance, field and office quality assurance, customer satisfaction and repeat business.
Project Superintendent: Manages the field team, insuring that all on-site personnel work together efficiently and effectively to achieve a quality project delivered on time. Superintendents also are responsible for: jobsite safety; client team relations; leadership (setting a standard of excellence in performance, appearance and behavior); scheduling; field communications; and public agency coordination.
Project Engineer: Assists the project manager and superintendent(s) in successful completion of their current project(s) including: submittals and shop drawings (tracking and distribution); drawings; specifications and addenda (tracking and distribution); inputs and updates project schedules working with the project manager and superintendent; RFIs and RFPs (track and coordinate); and estimating (assist in soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids; performing quantity take offs; analyzing project job cost).
Project Accountant: Coordinates all accounting activities for projects including processing invoices, handling project payables and receivables.
Project Administrator: Works closely with project manager and project engineer to coordinate administrative services including distributing and receiving of subcontracts, issuance of RFIs, RFPs, and change orders. They also provide administrative support during the bidding process as well as maintaining files, and serving as an administrative assistant to the project manager, and superintendent.
Internships: Enables students with junior or senior standing in either construction management or civil engineering to combine actual work experience with their studies. Interns support the project team in both bidding and construction administrative efforts.
