John T. Ross
Project Executive

John Ross began his project management career with R.D. Olson Construction in 1994 and has since been promoted from project manger to senior project manger, and now to his current position as project executive. He brought with him many years of management experience and knowledge in estimating and CPM project scheduling.

Since joining R.D. Olson, John has been involved in several of the company’s most prominent projects, including the 40,000 square foot, ground up Ojai Valley Inn & Spa project in 1998. His involvement spanned from pre-construction and value engineering through closeout of the spa’s luxury suites. John also led the team that renovated an existing hotel into a medical office facility for Health Research Association in Los Angeles, CA.

In 2001 John finished work on two separate projects for a long-term client – Marriott Vacation Club International. The $8 million Marriott Shadow Ridge Resort project included both the sales and maintenance facilities; and Phase 2 of Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas was constructed over 13 months with an adjacent operating hotel, and consisted of approximately 100 high-end timeshare units at a value of over $20 million.

More recently, John’s projects have included the $8.2 million, 76-unit La Costa Glen Senior Housing project in Carlsbad, CA –the ground-up, 115,000 square foot facility concluded Phase I of the resort for Continuing Life Communities and was completed on time and within the 12-month schedule; and a $14 million condominium development adjacent to the St. Regis Hotel in Dana Point, CA. Each with an ocean view, the 18 luxury units sit on the golf course and have hotel privileges.

The Hotel Palomar was a $25 million renovation of an existing 19-story Hotel with 267 rooms, and included all public spaces, back of house and the complete modernization of the elevator system. The hotel remained open during the majority of construction to keep the revenue stream flowing and maintain the hotel staff. The design and construction team were able to have a true team effort to complete and reopen the hotel in May 2008.

Currently under construction, John is leading his team on a 178-room, 11-story Residence Inn by Marriott in Long Beach, CA. This poured-in-place concrete structure is adjacent to the Queen Mary, is scheduled to open two to three months ahead of schedule prior to the summer of 2009.

John is a graduate of the California State University at Long Beach with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management from the Engineering Technology Department. Prior to completing his studies at Cal State Long Beach, John worked in the construction field for more than five years as a journeyman electrician.
