Joseph Cervantes
Senior Executive Vice President of Operations
From hiring project managers to negotiating large, complex contracts, Joseph Cervantes plays a leading role at R.D. Olson Construction as the company’s executive vice president of operations. In this recently acquired position, Cervantes is in charge of more than 55 construction personnel, including administrators, engineers, project and senior managers and field supervisors.
Cervantes began working at R.D. Olson Construction in 1985 as a project manager. In this position, he oversaw the construction of such well-known restaurants as Red Lobster, Marie Callenders and Seafood Broiler throughout California. Cervantes also supervised such projects as the renovation of the Disneyland Hotel, Anaheim, CA; expansion of the Ojai Valley Inn and Country Club, Ojai, CA; and construction of the Marriott Food Court at the John Wayne Orange County Airport, Irvine, CA.
After five years in this managerial role and completing more than 40 structures, Cervantes moved up the corporate ladder and assumed the title of vice president and project executive. He held this position for nine years, and in July 1998, took the reins as executive vice president of operations.
Prior to his employment at R.D. Olson Construction, Cervantes worked at Healthwest where he was the project coordinator. There he oversaw such endeavors as the expansion of the La Palma Hospital Child Care Center and construction of a new rehabilitation building, including a pool, dialysis center, 12-bed expansion for the perinatal unit and an addition to the hospital service center building.
Cervantes’ long career in construction totals more than 25 years. The well-seasoned construction industry professional is an approved California Structural Deputy State Inspector. He holds a California contractor’s B license and Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Los Angeles.
